Volunteering

Volunteers are vital to the Credit Union. It is an organisation run by the members for the members. Volunteers from the membership are always needed at all levels from Board of Directors members to Officers, admin staff, community group members, etc. The credit union undertakes to provide free training for volunteers to give them the necessary skills to carry out their selected role and develop them, if desired, for future roles. Out of pocket expenses are payable to volunteers when carrying out their training or duties. Why not join us today and help us to help your community? The credit union has a volunteers charter setting out our commitment our volunteers:

Volunteers Charter

A Credit Union is a mutual organisation which relies on volunteers to give their time and effort for it to function. We therefore pledge that:

  • Volunteers are a distinctive and essential part of the organisation and will be regarded as such
  • The Credit Union has policies of equal opportunity and access applying to all staff
  • Each volunteer will have regular opportunities to discuss their involvement and we will use every effort to match the skills and interests of individual volunteers to defined tasks
  • We will provide each new volunteers with induction (including health and safety) training so that they will be able to work safely and competently, and we will continue to offer them appropriate specialist training
  • Each volunteer will be informed of the team member to whom he/she is responsible and who should be informed if for any reason an undertaking to work on a given day, or at a given time, can not be kept
  • We arrange insurance to cover every volunteer against injury while on Credit Union business and any claim by a member of the public
  • We offer volunteers reimbursement of authorised actual out of pocket expenses
  • We will inform volunteers about our policies and plans and invite them to contribute to our decision making process through suitable channels
