Best Practice Rural Credit Union
Norfolk Credit Union has been selected by the Commisssion for Rural Communities as a Best Practice Rural Credit Union. A case study about us appears in the Commission guide - Rural Money Matters: A Support Guide to Rural Financial Inclusion, which was launched on 1st July 2009 both in the House of Commons and at the Royal Norfolk Show.
Credt Union Current Account
Plans are well advanced for the launch of the Credit Union Current Account to our members at the end of 2009. This will provide an account better than a basic bank account for those people who do not currently have a current account. It will enable account holders to pay bills by direct debit and potentially make savings on such things as telephone and utility bills.
A grant of £150,000 has been approved by the cabinet of Norfolk County Council to fund this significant development.
Tudor Trust Grant
The second year element of the Tudor Trust Grant, which funds our Office Manager position has been received. The Board are grateful to the Tudor Trust Trust for this essential support during our major growth period.
Change to Credit Union Legislation
The change in Credit Union legislation originally due for 1st October 2009 has, we understand, been delayed until April 2010. This is a disappointment as we had hoped to take up the potential benefits as soon as possible.
Local Office Development
Development across the County is progressing rapidly with new local offices opened or soon to open in Stalham, Kings Lynn, Cromer, Fakenham, Wells, Sheringham, North Walsham, Reepham, Sprowston and Dereham.
Donation
A donation of £500 to help with the development of our Dereham local office has been received from a person who wishes to remain anonymous. We are most grateful for this very kind and generous support.
